iLife Tutorial – Create an iPad compatible eBook with Sigil

by Jimmy Hayes

There has never been a better time to write a best seller and have it ready for the iPad

mainSpecsApparently everyone has got a book inside them – no, we don’t mean we all swallow one from time to time – apparently we all have a good enough story in us to be told in print. Sadly, for most of us, the need to have a publisher approve such a work of inspiration would probably prevent it ever happening. That is, until now. Thanks to the iPad, it may be possible to publish your own book on the iBook Store in the same way it’s possible to submit and publish a podcast. All you need is the right tool. Luckily we’ve got everything you need right here (apart from the book that is, you’ll need to write that yourself). In this tutorial we’re going to show you how to create an iBook using Sigil, a very simple but very effective free application. So, if you haven’t got a best selling novel ready to go, get typing.

      Hi,

Nice tutorial about a great tool – I only have one problem concerning editing epubs in Sigil vs. InDesign

Does anyone know why the notes function on Ipad & Iphone does not work properly, i.e you cannot edit your own notes. Bookmark function does work though . . .

Can you import a PDF and make it into an ebook?
