Tutorial: Align objects on an iWeb page

If you’ve inserted multiple objects into your web page, use iWeb’s built-in object alignment features to pull them into line

When importing multiple objects into an iWeb page, whether they’re images, text boxes or movie files, it would be all too easy to then spend an inordinate amount of time painstakingly lining them up by hand until they look neat and tidy. But fortunately this isn’t necessary, because iWeb has built-in features to help with this task, accessible from the Arrange menu. The Align Objects command allows you to quickly line up selected objects by any of their edges or centres, while the Distribute Objects command lets you space them evenly, either horizontally or vertically. It’s important to remember, however, that when using the Align Objects feature the first object that you select is always the one that its counterparts will be aligned to. So follow the four simple steps outlined below and you’ll have all of your iWeb content lined up in no time.

1: Blank canvas
Start with a new blank page in iWeb. Drag a bunch of images in from either the Photos tab of the Media Browser or from the Finder, and position them roughly where you want them.

2: Starter for ten
Now begin the process by choosing the object you want to make the alignment relative to. Make sure this ‘anchor’ object is where you want it by dragging it into position.
