There’s something intrinsically satisfying about adding your own soundtrack to your movie, knowing that what you’re both seeing and hearing is all your own work. Traditionally, when writing music for movies, the work is broken down into cues that go with each scene. But for projects only a few minutes in length, the whole movie can often be scored in one GarageBand project. It’s actually very easy to do, not to mention great fun. Although iMovie has a wide range of options for editing backing tracks, if you want to assemble your own audio backdrop from a variety of elements then it’s much easier to import the video file into GarageBand so that you can make full use of its audio-editing capabilities. We’ll show you how to import your movie into GarageBand so that you can view it as you compose the score.
