You can make it as simple, fun and light-hearted or as in-depth as you like with added effects and transitions to keep their attention focused, plus you can add extra comments whenever you need to. When you’re happy with your finished work, you can email it to your family or upload it onto iWork.com so there is no excuse for not doing the jobs properly. Alternatively, print it out and keep it pinned to a board in your kitchen for everyone to see and as a constant reminder.</p>
<p><a rel="attachment wp-att-10863" href="http://www.icreatemagazine.com/tips/tutorial-organise-household-tasks-with-keynote/attachment/headerbar-7/"><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-10863" title="Tutorial: Organise household tasks with Keynote" src="http://www.icreatemagazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/headerbar.png" alt="Tutorial: Organise household tasks with Keynote" width="1533" height="71" /><a rel="attachment wp-att-10867" href="http://www.icreatemagazine.com/tips/tutorial-organise-household-tasks-with-keynote/attachment/step1-27/"><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-10867" title="step1" src="http://www.icreatemagazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/step11.png" alt="Step 1" width="610" height="460" /></a></a></p>
<div>
<p><strong>1: Choose a template</strong><br />
Open Keynote and select a template. We’ve chosen a bright, fun template which will hopefully attract children’s attention.</p>
<p><a rel="attachment wp-att-10868" href="http://www.icreatemagazine.com/tips/tutorial-organise-household-tasks-with-keynote/attachment/step2-22/"><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-10868" title="Tutorial: Organise household tasks with Keynote" src="http://www.icreatemagazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/step2.png" alt="Step 2" width="610" height="461" /></a></p>
<div>
<p><strong>2: Opener</strong><br />
The opening slide already has placeholder text. Just click the mouse onto the boxes, select the text and type to replace it.</p>
<p><a rel="attachment wp-att-10869" href="http://www.icreatemagazine.com/tips/tutorial-organise-household-tasks-with-keynote/attachment/step3-23/"><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-10869" title="Tutorial: Organise household tasks with Keynote" src="http://www.icreatemagazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/step3.png" alt="Tutorial: Organise household tasks with Keynote" width="610" height="459" /></a></p>
<div>
<p><strong>3: New<br />
</strong>Add the next slide by heading up to the ‘+’ icon at the top-left corner of the interface and click. Or use the keyboard shortcut Shift+Command+N.</p>
<p><a rel="attachment wp-att-10870" href="http://www.icreatemagazine.com/tips/tutorial-organise-household-tasks-with-keynote/attachment/step4-20/"><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-10870" title="Tutorial: Organise household tasks with Keynote" src="http://www.icreatemagazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/step4.png" alt="Step 4" width="610" height="459" /></a></p>
<div>
<p><strong>4: Masters</strong><br />
From the Masters drop-down menu at the top of the interface, choose a design for the next slide. We’ve chosen Title &amp; Bullets.</p>
<p><a rel="attachment wp-att-10871" href="http://www.icreatemagazine.com/tips/tutorial-organise-household-tasks-with-keynote/attachment/step5-10/"><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-10871" title="Tutorial: Organise household tasks with Keynote" src="http://www.icreatemagazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/step5.png" alt="Tutorial: Organise household tasks with Keynote" width="610" height="461" /></a></p>
<div>

					<div class="adInPost">
						<script type="text/javascript">
							GA_googleFillSlot("IC_MidPage_MPU1");
						</script>
					</div><p><strong>5: Allocation</strong><br />
Add bullets for each area of the house and allocate a person for each area. To make it fair you could devise a rotation system.</p>
<p><a rel="attachment wp-att-10872" href="http://www.icreatemagazine.com/tips/tutorial-organise-household-tasks-with-keynote/attachment/step6-10/"><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-10872" title="Tutorial: Organise household tasks with Keynote" src="http://www.icreatemagazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/step6.png" alt="Step 6" width="610" height="460" /></a></p>
<div>
<p><strong>6: Add more slides</strong><br />
Now add a new slide for each area of the house. Make it more interesting by repeating the last step and using different slides.</p>
<p><a rel="attachment wp-att-10873" href="http://www.icreatemagazine.com/tips/tutorial-organise-household-tasks-with-keynote/attachment/step7-7/"><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-10873" title="Tutorial: Organise household tasks with Keynote" src="http://www.icreatemagazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/step7.png" alt="Step 7" width="610" height="459" /></a></p>
<div>
<p><strong>7: Instructions</strong><br />
Keep the instructions clear, concise and in bullet- point style. That way things won’t get forgotten. Try adding images to make it look more engaging</p>
<p><a rel="attachment wp-att-10874" href="http://www.icreatemagazine.com/tips/tutorial-organise-household-tasks-with-keynote/attachment/step8-6/"><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-10874" title="Tutorial: Organise household tasks with Keynote" src="http://www.icreatemagazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/step8.png" alt="Step 8" width="610" height="463" /></a></p>
<div>
<p><strong>8: Effects</strong><br />
Repeat the last step for each area of the house. Use the Slide Inspector to add effects such as transitions between slides.</p>
<p><a rel="attachment wp-att-10875" href="http://www.icreatemagazine.com/tips/tutorial-organise-household-tasks-with-keynote/attachment/step9-6/"><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-10875" title="Tutorial: Organise household tasks with Keynote" src="http://www.icreatemagazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/step9.png" alt="Step 9" width="610" height="459" /></a></p>
<div>
<p><strong>9: Share</strong><br />
To make sure that all your family have access to your presentation, either email it to them as a PDF or Keynote presentation, or upload it to iWork.com.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><em>Click Image to Enlarge</em></p>
<p><a rel="attachment wp-att-10876" href="http://www.icreatemagazine.com/tips/tutorial-organise-household-tasks-with-keynote/attachment/annotated-8/"><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-10876" title="Tutorial: Organise household tasks with Keynote" src="http://www.icreatemagazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/annotated.png" alt="Annotated Image" width="1253" height="940" /></a></p>

One area that could always do with Time needed: 5 minutes being a little quicker and more precise is the import section that springs to life when you connect a camera or insert an SD card into your Mac. Here, the software can do a couple of things to improve the efficiency not only of the import itself, but also to where in the software those pictures are then stored and displayed. You may need to make these changes each and every time that you import but they will save you a fair bit of time and effort later – whether it’s helping you locate photos faster or saving you having to sort through duplicates or similar shots.</p>
<p><a rel="attachment wp-att-10093" href="http://www.icreatemagazine.com/tips/ilife-tutorial-make-importing-photos-quicker-and-easier-in-iphoto/attachment/screen-shot-2011-11-15-at-17-58-16/"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-10093" title="Screen Shot 2011-11-15 at 17.58.16" src="http://www.icreatemagazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/11/Screen-Shot-2011-11-15-at-17.58.16.png" alt="iLife Tutorial: Make importing photos quicker and easier in iPhoto" width="690" height="71" /></a></p>

					</div><p><strong>1. Connect and Wait</strong><br />
When you connect a camera or insert an SD card, use the Hide Photos Already Imported button. You can then import all of what remains as one event. Sensible naming of events will help you find photos later.</p>
<p><a rel="attachment wp-att-10090" href="http://www.icreatemagazine.com/tips/ilife-tutorial-make-importing-photos-quicker-and-easier-in-iphoto/attachment/screen-shot-2011-11-15-at-17-58-31/"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-10090" title="Screen Shot 2011-11-15 at 17.58.31" src="http://www.icreatemagazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/11/Screen-Shot-2011-11-15-at-17.58.31.png" alt="iLife Tutorial: Make importing photos quicker and easier in iPhoto" width="757" height="600" /></a></p>
<div>
<p><strong>2: Selected few</strong><br />
Alternatively, you can click on individual photos to highlight them and select so they can be imported separately. This is a good technique if you have lots of similar shots you don’t want to keep.</p>

In this case, we’re going to create the ultimate family newsletter, using the same rules that are applied to newspapers, books and magazines worldwide. Although it will take a bit of practice to define your skills, it’s easy to learn the basics and once you have mastered them, you can apply them to virtually everything that you do from now on, from using grid structures to using typography effectively, this tutorial will help you create much more professional-looking work. This panel-based layout is a terrific template to present your video footage in, as you can make a few clips look much more interesting than they would if you simply cut them together. iMovie’s Comic Book theme pops your clips into comic-style panels, adding an extra level of colour to your productions. The animated, rostrum camera-style transitions add extra movement as they pan from one panel to another. You can even add comic book-style captions to help tell your tale!</p>
<p><a rel="attachment wp-att-9791" href="http://www.icreatemagazine.com/tips/imovie-tutorial-create-a-comic-book-style-movie/attachment/screen-shot-2011-11-04-at-12-06-29/"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-9791" title="Screen Shot 2011-11-04 at 12.06.29" src="http://www.icreatemagazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/11/Screen-Shot-2011-11-04-at-12.06.29.png" alt="iMovie Tutorial: Create a comic book-style movie" width="1215" height="101" /></a><a rel="attachment wp-att-9792" href="http://www.icreatemagazine.com/tips/imovie-tutorial-create-a-comic-book-style-movie/attachment/screen-shot-2011-11-04-at-12-04-15/"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-9792" title="Screen Shot 2011-11-04 at 12.04.15" src="http://www.icreatemagazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/11/Screen-Shot-2011-11-04-at-12.04.15.png" alt="iMovie Tutorial: Create a comic book-style movie" width="735" height="555" /></a></p>

Unfortunately, without professional equipment, it’s near impossible to make sure that every single clip you record on your video camera or iPhone has similar audio levels.<br />
Luckily, in the latest update Apple has made sure that audio editing is a little simpler and a lot more thorough. You can very easily change the overall levels of a clip by clicking a button and dragging the values up and down. You can also, using the audio editing window, apply changes to the EQ of each clip. EQ allows you to change the values of sounds at different frequencies. This may sound advanced, but it’s really not. In our experience, a little bit of simple exploration can lead to huge improvements in sound quality in just a few clicks.</p>
<p><a rel="attachment wp-att-9581" href="http://www.icreatemagazine.com/tips/ilife-tutorial-manage-audio-with-ease-in-imovie/attachment/screen-shot-2011-10-27-at-16-49-47/"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-9581" title="Screen Shot 2011-10-27 at 16.49.47" src="http://www.icreatemagazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/Screen-Shot-2011-10-27-at-16.49.47.png" alt="iLife Tutorial: Manage audio with ease in iMovie" width="873" height="68" /></a><a rel="attachment wp-att-9582" href="http://www.icreatemagazine.com/tips/ilife-tutorial-manage-audio-with-ease-in-imovie/attachment/screen-shot-2011-10-27-at-16-49-56/"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-9582" title="Screen Shot 2011-10-27 at 16.49.56" src="http://www.icreatemagazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/Screen-Shot-2011-10-27-at-16.49.56.png" alt="iLife Tutorial: Manage audio with ease in iMovie" width="757" height="596" /></a></p>
<p><strong>1: Cogs away<br />
</strong>Click the Settings cog on a clip that you would like to adjust the sound on. Then, once the menu bar has appeared, click on Audio Adjustments. This will bring up a dedicated window for you to play with.</p>

					<div class="adInPost">

					</div><p><a rel="attachment wp-att-9583" href="http://www.icreatemagazine.com/tips/ilife-tutorial-manage-audio-with-ease-in-imovie/attachment/screen-shot-2011-10-27-at-16-50-00/"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-9583" title="Screen Shot 2011-10-27 at 16.50.00" src="http://www.icreatemagazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/Screen-Shot-2011-10-27-at-16.50.00.png" alt="iLife Tutorial: Manage audio with ease in iMovie" width="753" height="601" /></a></p>
<div>
<p><strong>2: EQ it</strong><br />
Use the EQ values to select a preset or alter the volume levels of different frequencies. Use trial and error to make adjustments, playing the clip back each time. Over time, you’ll learn what works.</p>

All the more so for Mac OS X, as it comes with its own array of preferences that can be easily set and tweaked.<br />
In fact, working with your Mac and enjoying it has a lot to do with making its interface look, feel and do things just as you desire. This significant configuring is achieved through the clever, and yet simple, interface of the Mac OS X built-in application called System Preferences. Read on to understand how to set all of the most relevant applications and system settings on your Mac so that it will look and operate just the way you want.</p>
<p><a rel="attachment wp-att-9535" href="http://www.icreatemagazine.com/tips/os-x-basics-learn-to-use-system-preferences/attachment/screen-shot-2011-10-26-at-15-56-46/"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-9535" title="Screen Shot 2011-10-26 at 15.56.46" src="http://www.icreatemagazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/Screen-Shot-2011-10-26-at-15.56.46.png" alt="OS X Basics: Learn to use System Preferences" width="1187" height="78" /></a><a rel="attachment wp-att-9536" href="http://www.icreatemagazine.com/tips/os-x-basics-learn-to-use-system-preferences/attachment/screen-shot-2011-10-26-at-15-56-53/"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-9536" title="Screen Shot 2011-10-26 at 15.56.53" src="http://www.icreatemagazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/Screen-Shot-2011-10-26-at-15.56.53.png" alt="OS X Basics: Learn to use System Preferences" width="739" height="561" /></a></p>
<div>
<p><strong>1: Locate the facility</strong><br />
Mac OS X System Preferences can be accessed from the Apple menu in the top-left corner of your screen. Click on the Apple pictogram to open the menu.</p>
<p><a rel="attachment wp-att-9537" href="http://www.icreatemagazine.com/tips/os-x-basics-learn-to-use-system-preferences/attachment/screen-shot-2011-10-26-at-15-56-57/"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-9537" title="Screen Shot 2011-10-26 at 15.56.57" src="http://www.icreatemagazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/Screen-Shot-2011-10-26-at-15.56.57.png" alt="OS X Basics: Learn to use System Preferences" width="734" height="558" /></a></p>
<div>
<p><strong>2: Launch the application</strong><br />
Click on the System Preferences menu item in the Apple menu. The cog-works pictogram will appear in the Dock and the System Preferences window opens.</p>
<p><a rel="attachment wp-att-9538" href="http://www.icreatemagazine.com/tips/os-x-basics-learn-to-use-system-preferences/attachment/screen-shot-2011-10-26-at-15-57-02/"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-9538" title="Screen Shot 2011-10-26 at 15.57.02" src="http://www.icreatemagazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/Screen-Shot-2011-10-26-at-15.57.02.png" alt="OS X Basics: Learn to use System Preferences" width="734" height="557" /></a></p>
<div>
<p><strong>3: Get your bearings</strong><br />
The application contains two main features; a set of standard menus, located in the Menu bar at the top of your screen, and a main application window.</p>
<p><a rel="attachment wp-att-9539" href="http://www.icreatemagazine.com/tips/os-x-basics-learn-to-use-system-preferences/attachment/screen-shot-2011-10-26-at-15-57-12/"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-9539" title="Screen Shot 2011-10-26 at 15.57.12" src="http://www.icreatemagazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/Screen-Shot-2011-10-26-at-15.57.12.png" alt="OS X Basics: Learn to use System Preferences" width="732" height="553" /></a></p>
<div>
<p><strong>4: The View menu</strong><br />
The View menu is the most useful of the System Preferences menus. It provides direct access to each preference pane and helps you sort and search them.</p>
<p><a rel="attachment wp-att-9540" href="http://www.icreatemagazine.com/tips/os-x-basics-learn-to-use-system-preferences/attachment/screen-shot-2011-10-26-at-15-57-18/"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-9540" title="Screen Shot 2011-10-26 at 15.57.18" src="http://www.icreatemagazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/Screen-Shot-2011-10-26-at-15.57.18.png" alt="OS X Basics: Learn to use System Preferences" width="733" height="557" /></a></p>

<p><a rel="attachment wp-att-9541" href="http://www.icreatemagazine.com/tips/os-x-basics-learn-to-use-system-preferences/attachment/screen-shot-2011-10-26-at-15-57-25/"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-9541" title="Screen Shot 2011-10-26 at 15.57.25" src="http://www.icreatemagazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/Screen-Shot-2011-10-26-at-15.57.25.png" alt="OS X Basics: Learn to use System Preferences" width="734" height="558" /></a></p>
<div>
<p><strong>6: The toolbar search field</strong><br />
The search field, to the right-side of the toolbar, lets you input a word to look for among the title and attributes of all the preference panes.</p>
<p><a rel="attachment wp-att-9542" href="http://www.icreatemagazine.com/tips/os-x-basics-learn-to-use-system-preferences/attachment/screen-shot-2011-10-26-at-15-57-43/"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-9542" title="Screen Shot 2011-10-26 at 15.57.43" src="http://www.icreatemagazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/Screen-Shot-2011-10-26-at-15.57.43.png" alt="OS X Basics: Learn to use System Preferences" width="731" height="555" /></a></p>
<div>
<p><strong>7: The four sections</strong><br />
The application window central area lists all available preference panes. It is organised into four sections: Personal, Hardware, Internet &amp; Wireless and System.</p>
<p><a rel="attachment wp-att-9543" href="http://www.icreatemagazine.com/tips/os-x-basics-learn-to-use-system-preferences/attachment/screen-shot-2011-10-26-at-15-57-49/"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-9543" title="Screen Shot 2011-10-26 at 15.57.49" src="http://www.icreatemagazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/Screen-Shot-2011-10-26-at-15.57.49.png" alt="OS X Basics: Learn to use System Preferences" width="732" height="556" /></a></p>

If you go out with friends of an evening and stay up past midnight, iPhoto will split the pictures up across that midnight divide. So, instead of having one event for the night out, you’re left with two. Of course, this simply will not do, so you’ll have to manually combine the events later on. The same applies to when you go for a weekend away or a longer holiday. Luckily combining events is incredibly simple and can be completed in just a few seconds. You will need to be looking at your pictures in the Events view. From there on in, it’s really a doddle. Here’s how&#8230;</p>
<p><a rel="attachment wp-att-9487" href="http://www.icreatemagazine.com/tips/ilife-tutorial-organise-your-library-by-combining-events-in-iphoto/attachment/screen-shot-2011-10-24-at-17-50-15/"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-9487" title="Screen Shot 2011-10-24 at 17.50.15" src="http://www.icreatemagazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/Screen-Shot-2011-10-24-at-17.50.15.png" alt="iLife Tutorial: Organise your library by combining events in iPhoto" width="1131" height="73" /></a><a rel="attachment wp-att-9488" href="http://www.icreatemagazine.com/tips/ilife-tutorial-organise-your-library-by-combining-events-in-iphoto/attachment/screen-shot-2011-10-24-at-17-50-28/"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-9488" title="Screen Shot 2011-10-24 at 17.50.28" src="http://www.icreatemagazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/Screen-Shot-2011-10-24-at-17.50.28.png" alt="iLife Tutorial: Organise your library by combining events in iPhoto" width="757" height="603" /></a></p>
<p><strong>1: Drag and drop</strong><br />
Click on an event and simply drag it onto another one. You’ll know when the technique is working because the event you’re moving the pictures into will become backlit and a + icon will appear on your mouse pointer.</p>

<div>
<p><strong>2: Alert</strong><br />
The first time you complete this procedure iPhoto will alert you to make sure it’s the right operation. If you’re confident you’ll never make a mistake when doing this, click the Don’t Ask Again checkbox.</p>

When viewing video, the shots’ different durations, angles and sizes help to tell the story. You could shoot with multiple cameras to capture different angles of a single take. However, as you probably only have one camera, it makes more sense to emulate Hollywood filmmakers. They tend to shoot with one camera and then repeat the action while filming from another angle. We filmed a man feeding horses. As his actions were repetitive we were able to capture different shot sizes and angles. We’ll show you how to cut the footage together as if there were several camera operators recording the action.</p>

<div>
<p><strong>1: Import assets</strong><br />
Create a new 16:9 project. Choose File&gt;Import&gt;Movies. Import the clips from the MultiCamera Clips folder and add them to a new Event. Choose View&gt;Playhead Info.</p>
<p><a rel="attachment wp-att-9427" href="http://www.icreatemagazine.com/tips/ilife-tutorial-create-a-seamless-multi-camera-sequence-in-imovie-11/attachment/screen-shot-2011-10-21-at-12-07-06/"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-9427" title="Screen Shot 2011-10-21 at 12.07.06" src="http://www.icreatemagazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/Screen-Shot-2011-10-21-at-12.07.06.png" alt="iLife Tutorial: Create a seamless multi-camera sequence in iMovie '11" width="734" height="554" /></a></p>
<div>
<p><strong>2: Add a cutaway</strong><br />
Drag the first shot into the Project window. Drag the second shot onto the first clip at 1:26. Choose Cutaway from the pop-up menu. The clips will run parallel.</p>
<p><a rel="attachment wp-att-9428" href="http://www.icreatemagazine.com/tips/ilife-tutorial-create-a-seamless-multi-camera-sequence-in-imovie-11/attachment/screen-shot-2011-10-21-at-12-07-21/"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-9428" title="Screen Shot 2011-10-21 at 12.07.21" src="http://www.icreatemagazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/Screen-Shot-2011-10-21-at-12.07.21.png" alt="iLife Tutorial: Create a seamless multi-camera sequence in iMovie '11" width="738" height="558" /></a></p>
<div>
<p><strong>3: Trim the cutaway</strong><br />
Click the cutaway clip’s gear icon. Choose Clip Trimmer. Drag the clip’s end so its duration is 2:08. Click Done. Slide the cutaway five frames right to fine-tune timing.</p>
<p><a rel="attachment wp-att-9429" href="http://www.icreatemagazine.com/tips/ilife-tutorial-create-a-seamless-multi-camera-sequence-in-imovie-11/attachment/screen-shot-2011-10-21-at-12-07-29/"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-9429" title="Screen Shot 2011-10-21 at 12.07.29" src="http://www.icreatemagazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/Screen-Shot-2011-10-21-at-12.07.29.png" alt="iLife Tutorial: Create a seamless multi-camera sequence in iMovie '11" width="735" height="557" /></a></p>
<div>
<p><strong>4: New cutaway</strong><br />
Select the last second of the third clip in the Event browser (hay landing alternative angle) and add it as a Cutaway at 5:00. Trim the first clip to end at 6:00.</p>
<p><a rel="attachment wp-att-9431" href="http://www.icreatemagazine.com/tips/ilife-tutorial-create-a-seamless-multi-camera-sequence-in-imovie-11/attachment/screen-shot-2011-10-21-at-12-07-33/"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-9431" title="Screen Shot 2011-10-21 at 12.07.33" src="http://www.icreatemagazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/Screen-Shot-2011-10-21-at-12.07.33.png" alt="iLife Tutorial: Create a seamless multi-camera sequence in iMovie '11" width="740" height="558" /></a></p>
<div>
<p><strong>5: Split and trim</strong><br />
Add clip four to the project. Scrub to 7:27. Right-click. Choose Split Clip. Drag the last clip’s yellow selection handle to 10:10. Right-click. Choose Trim to Selection.</p>

					<div class="adInPost">
						<script type="text/javascript">
							GA_googleFillSlot("IC_MidPage_MPU1");
						</script>
					</div><p><a rel="attachment wp-att-9432" href="http://www.icreatemagazine.com/tips/ilife-tutorial-create-a-seamless-multi-camera-sequence-in-imovie-11/attachment/screen-shot-2011-10-21-at-12-07-39/"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-9432" title="Screen Shot 2011-10-21 at 12.07.39" src="http://www.icreatemagazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/Screen-Shot-2011-10-21-at-12.07.39.png" alt="iLife Tutorial: Create a seamless multi-camera sequence in iMovie '11" width="743" height="560" /></a></p>
<div>
<p><strong>6: Playback</strong><br />
Play back the sequence. We’ve turned four source clips into six flowing shots. We’ve removed a wobbly zoom in the last clip and the man looking at the camera.</p>
<p><a rel="attachment wp-att-9441" href="http://www.icreatemagazine.com/tips/ilife-tutorial-create-a-seamless-multi-camera-sequence-in-imovie-11/attachment/screen-shot-2011-10-21-at-12-14-27/"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-9441" title="Screen Shot 2011-10-21 at 12.14.27" src="http://www.icreatemagazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/Screen-Shot-2011-10-21-at-12.14.27.png" alt="iLife Tutorial: Create a seamless multi-camera sequence in iMovie '11" width="737" height="558" /></a></p>
<div>
<p><strong>7: Different angles</strong><br />
Add clips five, six and seven to the sequence. These show the horses eating from different angles, as if we had three camera operators filming the action.</p>
<p><a rel="attachment wp-att-9442" href="http://www.icreatemagazine.com/tips/ilife-tutorial-create-a-seamless-multi-camera-sequence-in-imovie-11/attachment/screen-shot-2011-10-21-at-12-14-31/"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-9442" title="Screen Shot 2011-10-21 at 12.14.31" src="http://www.icreatemagazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/Screen-Shot-2011-10-21-at-12.14.31.png" alt="iLife Tutorial: Create a seamless multi-camera sequence in iMovie '11" width="736" height="558" /></a></p>
<div>
<p><strong>8: Add last clip</strong><br />
Add the last low-angle clip, which pans from the horses to the man. This contrasts from the previous high-angle view of the feeding horses and adds visual variety.</p>
<p><a rel="attachment wp-att-9444" href="http://www.icreatemagazine.com/tips/ilife-tutorial-create-a-seamless-multi-camera-sequence-in-imovie-11/attachment/screen-shot-2011-10-21-at-12-14-37/"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-9444" title="Screen Shot 2011-10-21 at 12.14.37" src="http://www.icreatemagazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/Screen-Shot-2011-10-21-at-12.14.37.png" alt="iLife Tutorial: Create a seamless multi-camera sequence in iMovie '11" width="738" height="558" /></a></p>
<div>
<p><strong>9: Musical merge</strong><br />
The action flows, but we can knit the shots together even more effectively using a music track. Add Tour Bus Medium from the iLife Sound Effects Jingles folder.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><em>Click Image to Enlarge</em></p>
<p><a rel="attachment wp-att-9445" href="http://www.icreatemagazine.com/tips/ilife-tutorial-create-a-seamless-multi-camera-sequence-in-imovie-11/attachment/screen-shot-2011-10-21-at-12-23-09/"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-9445" title="Screen Shot 2011-10-21 at 12.23.09" src="http://www.icreatemagazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/Screen-Shot-2011-10-21-at-12.23.09.png" alt="iLife Tutorial: Create a seamless multi-camera sequence in iMovie '11" width="1419" height="1075" /></a></p>

Whether that’s true or not, it’s definitely the part that everybody remembers. Be it a movie, book, piece of music, videogame or, as in our case, a presentation, suspense, pace and drama are crucial to keeping the audience captivated. This common technique of slowly building suspense to culminate in a grand finalé is especially useful when creating presentations, particularly if you are building up to a big announcement. The example that we are using here is the annual financial report for a small business. The big announcement at the end is the net profit, so we’re going to use a combination of animation techniques in order to give it extra importance and to emphasise that this is the highlight of the presentation. Follow these easy steps to learn how.</p>

<p><a rel="attachment wp-att-9353" href="http://www.icreatemagazine.com/tips/iwork-tutorial-create-a-grand-finale%cc%81-for-your-presentation-in-keynote/attachment/screen-shot-2011-10-17-at-17-39-40/"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-9353" title="Screen Shot 2011-10-17 at 17.39.40" src="http://www.icreatemagazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/Screen-Shot-2011-10-17-at-17.39.40.png" alt="iWork Tutorial: Create a Grand Finalé for your presentation in Keynote" width="738" height="561" /></a></p>
<div>
<p><strong>2: Resize</strong><br />
Magic Move works best if you resize and rearrange your images. On the duplicated slide, click on the images and drag the corner points to resize.</p>
<p><a rel="attachment wp-att-9354" href="http://www.icreatemagazine.com/tips/iwork-tutorial-create-a-grand-finale%cc%81-for-your-presentation-in-keynote/attachment/screen-shot-2011-10-17-at-17-39-48/"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-9354" title="Screen Shot 2011-10-17 at 17.39.48" src="http://www.icreatemagazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/Screen-Shot-2011-10-17-at-17.39.48.png" alt="iWork Tutorial: Create a Grand Finalé for your presentation in Keynote" width="736" height="555" /></a></p>

<p><strong>6: Rotation</strong><br />
The data will appear onto the slide one by one with the effect. Once this has completed, add a rotation for extra emphasis. Click on Action and choose an effect.</p>
<p><a rel="attachment wp-att-9358" href="http://www.icreatemagazine.com/tips/iwork-tutorial-create-a-grand-finale%cc%81-for-your-presentation-in-keynote/attachment/screen-shot-2011-10-17-at-17-43-19/"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-9358" title="Screen Shot 2011-10-17 at 17.43.19" src="http://www.icreatemagazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/Screen-Shot-2011-10-17-at-17.43.19.png" alt="iWork Tutorial: Create a Grand Finalé for your presentation in Keynote" width="735" height="560" /></a></p>

<p><a rel="attachment wp-att-9167" href="http://www.icreatemagazine.com/tips/iwork-tutorial-add-your-own-unique-style-to-your-designs-in-pages/attachment/screen-shot-2011-09-29-at-11-04-29/"><img class="alignleft size-full wp-image-9167" title="Screen Shot 2011-09-29 at 11.04.29" src="http://www.icreatemagazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/09/Screen-Shot-2011-09-29-at-11.04.29.png" alt="iWork Tutorial: Add your own unique style to your designs in Pages" width="139" height="147" /></a>If you don’t like the pre-installed templates in Pages, or if you prefer to make your own mark, an alternative is to import your own design elements. It’s really easy to do, and a great way to add your own personal touch to your designs. Following the recent revival for hand-rendered type and illustration, we’ve created our own elements by sketching them out with pen and paper, then scanning them into a computer and saving them. Don’t panic if you can’t even draw a stick-man though; there is a wealth of resources available online, such as clip art and textures – much of which is free. All you need to do is check the copyright if you intend to publish your project commercially. Here is everything you need to add your own creative flair to your projects.</p>
<p><a rel="attachment wp-att-9169" href="http://www.icreatemagazine.com/tips/iwork-tutorial-add-your-own-unique-style-to-your-designs-in-pages/attachment/screen-shot-2011-09-29-at-11-06-22/"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-9169" title="Screen Shot 2011-09-29 at 11.06.22" src="http://www.icreatemagazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/09/Screen-Shot-2011-09-29-at-11.06.22.png" alt="iWork Tutorial: Add your own unique style to your designs in Pages" width="1178" height="105" /></a><a rel="attachment wp-att-9170" href="http://www.icreatemagazine.com/tips/iwork-tutorial-add-your-own-unique-style-to-your-designs-in-pages/attachment/screen-shot-2011-09-29-at-11-06-30/"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-9170" title="Screen Shot 2011-09-29 at 11.06.30" src="http://www.icreatemagazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/09/Screen-Shot-2011-09-29-at-11.06.30.png" alt="iWork Tutorial: Add your own unique style to your designs in Pages" width="786" height="566" /></a></p>
<div>
<p><strong>1: Collect assets</strong><br />
Collect the assets that you think you may want to use first and save them into a folder on your desktop. We’ve downloaded this background from www.sxc.hu, a free photo stock site.</p>
<p><a rel="attachment wp-att-9171" href="http://www.icreatemagazine.com/tips/iwork-tutorial-add-your-own-unique-style-to-your-designs-in-pages/attachment/screen-shot-2011-09-29-at-11-07-44/"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-9171" title="Screen Shot 2011-09-29 at 11.07.44" src="http://www.icreatemagazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/09/Screen-Shot-2011-09-29-at-11.07.44.png" alt="iWork Tutorial: Add your own unique style to your designs in Pages" width="780" height="564" /></a></p>
<div>
<p><strong>2: Blank template</strong><br />
Open Pages and select a blank template. Don’t be intimidated, it won’t take long to get up and running. Alternatively, select a template you like the look of and delete the elements you don’t like.</p>
<p><a rel="attachment wp-att-9172" href="http://www.icreatemagazine.com/tips/iwork-tutorial-add-your-own-unique-style-to-your-designs-in-pages/attachment/screen-shot-2011-09-29-at-11-07-49/"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-9172" title="Screen Shot 2011-09-29 at 11.07.49" src="http://www.icreatemagazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/09/Screen-Shot-2011-09-29-at-11.07.49.png" alt="iWork Tutorial: Add your own unique style to your designs in Pages" width="787" height="565" /></a></p>
<div>
<p><strong>3: Add assets</strong><br />
There are two ways to import your own assets. The first is to go to the Insert drop-down menu at the top of the interface and select the option Choose, or use the keyboard shortcut Shift+Command+V.</p>
<p><a rel="attachment wp-att-9173" href="http://www.icreatemagazine.com/tips/iwork-tutorial-add-your-own-unique-style-to-your-designs-in-pages/attachment/screen-shot-2011-09-29-at-11-07-54/"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-9173" title="Screen Shot 2011-09-29 at 11.07.54" src="http://www.icreatemagazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/09/Screen-Shot-2011-09-29-at-11.07.54.png" alt="iWork Tutorial: Add your own unique style to your designs in Pages" width="780" height="568" /></a></p>
<div>
<p><strong>4: Alternatively</strong><br />
Another way to add your own elements is to simply select it on your desktop and drag it onto the Pages template. Be careful though, because if you drop an element on top of another, it may replace it.</p>
<p><a rel="attachment wp-att-9174" href="http://www.icreatemagazine.com/tips/iwork-tutorial-add-your-own-unique-style-to-your-designs-in-pages/attachment/screen-shot-2011-09-29-at-11-07-59/"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-9174" title="Screen Shot 2011-09-29 at 11.07.59" src="http://www.icreatemagazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/09/Screen-Shot-2011-09-29-at-11.07.59.png" alt="iWork Tutorial: Add your own unique style to your designs in Pages" width="783" height="566" /></a></p>
<div>
<p><strong>5: Sketching</strong><br />
If you have a scanner, try scanning in hand-drawn illustrations. If not, try creating them on your Mac using software such as Pixelmator. It doesn’t have to be perfect – it’ll give your project a personal touch.</p>

					<div class="adInPost">
						<script type="text/javascript">
							GA_googleFillSlot("IC_MidPage_MPU1");
						</script>
					</div><p><a rel="attachment wp-att-9175" href="http://www.icreatemagazine.com/tips/iwork-tutorial-add-your-own-unique-style-to-your-designs-in-pages/attachment/screen-shot-2011-09-29-at-11-08-04/"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-9175" title="Screen Shot 2011-09-29 at 11.08.04" src="http://www.icreatemagazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/09/Screen-Shot-2011-09-29-at-11.08.04.png" alt="iWork Tutorial: Add your own unique style to your designs in Pages" width="783" height="570" /></a></p>
<div>
<p><strong>6: Keep on adding</strong><br />
Keep adding your own elements until you’re satisfied with your design. Experiment with how they sit on the page, so that you create a balance. Think about hierarchy too – important info bigger.</p>
<p><a rel="attachment wp-att-9168" href="http://www.icreatemagazine.com/tips/iwork-tutorial-add-your-own-unique-style-to-your-designs-in-pages/attachment/screen-shot-2011-09-29-at-11-04-46/"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-9168" title="Screen Shot 2011-09-29 at 11.04.46" src="http://www.icreatemagazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/09/Screen-Shot-2011-09-29-at-11.04.46.png" alt="iWork Tutorial: Add your own unique style to your designs in Pages" width="372" height="60" /></a><a rel="attachment wp-att-9176" href="http://www.icreatemagazine.com/tips/iwork-tutorial-add-your-own-unique-style-to-your-designs-in-pages/attachment/screen-shot-2011-09-29-at-11-04-52/"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-9176" title="Screen Shot 2011-09-29 at 11.04.52" src="http://www.icreatemagazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/09/Screen-Shot-2011-09-29-at-11.04.52.png" alt="iWork Tutorial: Add your own unique style to your designs in Pages" width="646" height="468" /></a></p>
