The iPhone 3GS enables you to record video, but it only lets you trim a clip’s start and end points before mailing it off to a mate.

You need to download your footage into your computer and use software like iMovie to edit raw clips into a more professional looking programme.  Thanks to ReelDirector you can turn the iPhone into an edit suite and churn out polished programmes while away from you desktop machine.

If you’re familiar with any computer-based editing software then this app is a doddle to use. The Edit Clips pane lets you import videos from your iPhoto Library. You can trim clips with ease by scrubbing through them using a scroll wheel – and even split a clip into 2 parts.  This nifty non-linear editor lets you drag shots around in the timeline to fine-tune your film’s narrative.  And for the icing on the cake you can add titles and transitions like wipes and dissolves.  An app that gives iMovie a run for its money!
