We’re not sure how often you would use this in a practical situation, but if you want to show off your iPhone to your mates then this app will do the job nicely. You have to download an app for your Mac or PC and sync the two together, but when you do you can control the mouse and keyboard on your computer by using your iPhone. Not only can you use it as a trackpad, but you can go all out and use the accelerometer too. The controls are easy to use and there will no doubt be a number of times that the app will be useful. And it’s definitely a good one to have on your phone for showing off purposes. That said, if you only ever need the Apple Remote App for controlling your Mac, you may be better off spending your money on something else.

How is this practical? Are you kidding?!? It’s the most practical iPhone app I’ve ever used! I use it to control my Home Theater PC and it works like a charm and provides much better control than a physical mouse/keyboard, for MUCH cheaper. I also use it for presentations. Best iPhone app in the app store IMHO!

Wow! A ringing endorsement! Whether the control is in fact better than a mouse is a point for discussion but we certainly agree that this is a very useful app for those controlling a Mac or PC for use as a media centre.
