If you’re not already aware of Sling Media or its Slingbox product you should start getting excited now. The Sling Box allows you to access your home television, including all of your existing channels, over the internet wherever you are. Previously only available for desktop and laptop computers, the technology is now available for Blackberry, Windows Mobile and soon, Apple’s iPhone.

The iPhone section of the site explains: “We’ve been working hard to bring the SlingPlayer Mobile experience to the iPhone and iPod Touch. We’ve submitted the first release of our application to the iPhone App Store. In the mean time, take a sneak peek!”

The “sneak peek” refers to a video on the page showing the app in action and, if you weren’t already salivating at the prospect of SlingPlayer, you will be once you see its gorgeous design and impressive functionality. Of course, you’ll need to buy a Sling Box in order to use this app and they don’t come cheap (starting at $179) but for the extra functionality it will provide to your iPhone not to mention the enjoyment of watching your favourite channels wherever you are, it seems almost worth it.
