More iPad Camera Evidence Found In New Ad

Our obsession with a front facing camera in the iPad continues…

Close inspection of the new iPad advert, which aired during this year’s Oscars, reveals the same glinting area at the top of the iPad we’ve noticed before, right in the spot where a camera should be.

The still below has been tweaked in Photoshop to reveal a small dot which resembles the look and placement of cameras found in the latest iMac’s and MacBooks.

We noticed the same thing during the iPad announcement event (below)Unknown

We have also seen a few leaked casing images with holes that fit the iSight camera from a MacBook precisely.

With news that the iPad/iPhone SDK also includes sections for utilising a front facing camera, it seems likely there will eventually be a camera in the iPad whether at launch or in a later revision.

I’d love a front-facing camera on the iPad too, but I think this is just wishful thinking for version 1.

After all, are you saying that all the iPads that were out on display for the press to play with when it was announced were just fakes?

Why would Apple hold back the fact that there is or will be a camera option? Surely that would be another selling point? I think that it’s just the ‘Ambient light sensor’. The camera would also never be placed on one side of the product, as the camera is not angled. It would be placed in the central position. So no it’s not a camera, unfortunately…

I agrees with francisco about the ambient sensor and positioning, however, considering the amount of hype that has been created by the iPad not having a camera, for Apple to then release it with one would be a fantastic marketing device!

It’s the same as the flash “mistake” that kept appearing on the videos. The iPad won’t have flash but it gets a lot of publicity!

I won’t rule out the camera, though it does seem unlikely. As usual, Apple will give people exactly what they want, exactly three months after they have bought it.
