They had an agreement (one which saw them add a million customers to their rosta) with Apple which meant that no one but themselves could offer the iPhone. Now, thanks to the ending of that agreement other comapnies can now offer the phone. Immediately both Orange and Vodafone have jumped at the opportunity and the result is sure to bring about a price war between the three mobile giants (O2 are still able to sell the iPhone). There are other factors which will come into play as the year goes on which could really drive the price of the iPhone down and would see a peak in sales for not just the iPhone. One possibility is that subsidised laptops and/or tablets (should one ever come to light) could be offered as part of an iPhone contract. Most carriers now offer some kind of mobile internet and the option to offer a subsidised Apple machine would be very attractive to both the mobile companies and to customers looking to offset the cost af a new Mac.

No Pricing details are available as of yet but no doubt there will be some interesting offers from all of the carriers as they compete for your business. If you don’t yet own an iPhone, now is the time to start thinking about it.
