The iPhone 5S has entered production on Foxconn’s existing iPhone 5 lines, according to Macotakara. The Japanese blog, which has a history of relatively accurate reporting, cites informed and trusted sources, said that Foxconn is now ready to ramp up production.
The report also suggests that the lack of external changes to the iPhone 5S mean that production can be completed on Foxconn’s existing iPhone 5 production lines. Yesterday, we reported that iMore’s Rene Ritchie pencilled the iPhone 5S in for an August release and news that the model has entered production certainly seems to tie in with that.
The iPhone 5S is rumoured to retain the overall design of the iPhone 5 but feature an upgraded camera and internals, in line with the upgrades enjoyed by other S models, over the years. More wildcard suggestions include a fingerprint sensor underneath the home button, although we’re unsure as to whether this would happen, given that very little is said to be changing on Foxconn’s production line.
