iPad image editor Snapseed now free on the App Store

by Freddie Harrison

iCreate’s image editor of choice was recently bought by Google, now it’s free on the iOS App Store for your iPhone and iPad

Snapseed - Main

We’ve been big fans of Snapseed for a long time and we’ve featured it pretty heavily in iCreate in the past, so it was always a bit of a worry to see Google buy it. Far from going the way of Sparrow, though, Google’s purchase of Nik Software has seen Snapseed developed even further, released on Google Play for Android (well, Google does own Android, so what else could we expect?) and made free on the iOS App Store for your iPhone and iPad.

As well as getting a small update to its icon (it follows a style that’s not all too dissimilar from Google’s own apps now, don’t you think?), the latest update to Snapseed also features some new filters and frames. Naturally, making Snapseed free has caused a bit of upset among those who’ve recently paid for the app, but it’s still great to see such a powerful and intuitive image editor go free. If you like what iPhoto can do with your photos, then you’ll love Snapseed.
