Microsoft's Surface Pro will go on sale in the US on February 9th

Microsoft today announced pricing and other details of its Surface Pro tablet, and we’ve put together a short list of its features compared to those of the iPad with Retina display (iPad 4) and the 11-inch MacBook Air, both of which could be considered as direct competitors. Anandtech did a similar comparison, although they only compared it to Apple’s tablet – we believe that the MacBook Air is a much closer competitor to the Surface Pro, while the iPad will more likely compete with the cheaper, less powerful Surface RT.

On interesting thing to note is that Microsoft have not announced the CPU speed of the Surface Pro. While the MacBook Air’s clocks in at 1.7GHz (dual-core) for the basic model it will be interesting to see how much speed the Surface Pro’s processor can manage.
