GarageBand for iOS gets Audiobus support in its latest update

by Freddie Harrison

Audiobus-compatible apps can now play and record directly into GarageBand on your iOS devices

GarageBand - Audiobus update - Main

The latest update to GarageBand for iOS features Audiobus support, enabling other apps to play and record directly into Apple’s music-making software. The update also features a bug fix that stops feedback from occurring when plugging in third-party accessories and the ability to turn off grid snapping for finer control over region and note editing.

Audiobus is a third-party app that lets you link up multiple apps for recording and playback. With apps that support Audiobus’ API, you can use an app like DM1 – The Drum Machine, for example, to create a beat and record it along with the rest of your project in GarageBand.

If you haven’t already picked up GarageBand – you should. It’s a must-have app for anyone wanting to make music on their iPhone, iPad or iPod touch. It’s available from the iOS App Store for £2.99/$4.99.
