The first clip of the upcoming Steve Jobs biopic, titled JOBS, has been released ahead of the film’s premiere at the Sundance Film Festival. The clip features Ashton Kutcher’s Jobs and Josh Gad’s Steve Wozniak discussing the potential for the Operating System created by Woz. It’s the first chance that we’ve had to see how the pair perform as the two Steves, and we have to say we’re impressed with how Kutcher has embodied Apple’s CEO. The voice seems spot-on, and we’re looking forward to seeing how the rest of the film progresses.
Steve Wozniak, however, is less impressed. In a comment on Gizmodo, the Apple co-founder said that the scene portrayed things that had never happened, and that the whole thing was a little embarassing.
From a creative standpoint there were always going to be scenes within the film that weren’t 100% accurate, and if the filmmakers didn’t talk to Woz before writing the script, scenes with just Jobs and Woz were never going to be exactly right. Woz seems to be suggesting that the characters themselves are wrong, but without seeing more of the film it’s difficult to judge.
