This Sunday, a new jailbreak from the team known as the Evad3rs is expected to be released for iPhone 5, iPad mini, iPad 4 and every other iOS device running iOS 6.1. Evasi0n is the first untethered jailbreak for the iPhone 5, and the fact that it will work with all iOS devices is great news for those wanting a little more freedom on their iPhone, iPhone or iPod touch.
Over the last few years, jailbreaking has become more and more difficult as Apple moves to block the bugs that jailbreakers use to access the inner workings of iOS. This is done both when iOS updates are released, as well as when new hardware is launched, so it’s impressive that hackers are able to find gaps at all. There’s an excellent article on the difficulties of jailbreaking written by Sarah Perez over at TechCrunch – it’s well worth a read.
Currently the Evasi0n jailbreak is nearing completion – its website currently says that it’s finalising the GUI, and it’s expected on Sunday after several tweets from those involved suggesting it will be released on the same day as the Super Bowl.
