We’ve already been hearing a few whispers about a possible low-cost iPhone in the works in Cupertino but, until now, details about the device’s design and construction have been sketchy at best. iLounge, who’s been pretty good at predicting future devices in the past, think it has got some solid details, though.

According to its sources, Apple’s low-cost iPhone will look like a cross between the iPhone 5, fifth-gen iPod touch and the iPod classic. This might seem a little bit crazy, but iLounge’s breakdown of what this actually means does seem to make a lot of sense:

“This new model is actually a cross between the iPhone 5, fifth-generation iPod touch, and… wait for it… the iPod classic. Yes, really. It will have a 4” screen, like the iPhone 5, a bottom like the latest iPod touch, and a shape that’s most similar to the iPod classic.”

The report also states that Apple’s lost-cost iPhone will be around half a millimetre taller and wider than the iPhone 5 and around one millimetre thicker, owing to the plastic construction of the chassis.
