For the last few days I’ve dropped third-party apps temporarily and gone back to the OS X System to start the design of folders. As these are one of the most regularly seen icons on the Mac, it seems only right that I designed the first (and most often-used) half of the folder set.
So here we have the icons you’ll need to finish of a standard Home folder (Applications, Desktop, Documents, Downloads, Dropbox, Library, Movies, Music, Pictures, Public and System, as well as a generic blank design). These can all be applied with LiteIcon; if you add the Generic folder design through the app, it will be applied to every blank folder on your Mac.
The design was good fun, as it allowed me to use the simplistic line-based designs that Apple has started using for its smaller, button icons. I chose the blue colour as it’s the default system colour for most menus in iOS 7, but also because it will be the most natural and familiar to Mac users.
You can grab all the folder icons from the download link below. There are still a few more to finish off, which I’ll be working on in the next few days, and then I’ll be back onto third-party apps that you have all requested. Stay tuned!
