I Want One of These: Mobee Magic Bar

by Stephen Ashby

Another magical product from the company who brought you the inductive charger for your Magic Mouse.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: Mobee‘s products are amazing. The company that brought us the quite incredible Magic Charger for your Magic Mouse (a charger that you only need to put your mouse on top of to charge the batteries) have taken the next step in inductive charging and created a device to keep your Apple Wireless Keyboard full of juice.

I Want One of These: Mobee Magic Bar

Called the Magic Bar, the package consists of a battery pack that fits into your Keyboard or Magic Trackpad, a MiniUSB cable, and the aluminium charger itself. Inserting the battery pack into your peripheral is simple and once that’s set up, it’s as simple as sliding it into the charger. To fully charge takes six hours, but once charged it will last for 10 days. If you consider that you could potentially use the Keyboard while it charges and you’re basically sorted forever. Don’t forget that it’s environmentally friendly, too.

I’m going to be trying my best to get one of these to review in the next few weeks/months. It will be available for pre-order from Mobee’s website from the 15th May 2011, with the first deliveries taking place at the end of June. It will be $59.99 in the US, and €59.99 in the EU.

Hi Don, thanks for your post. I’m afraid we don’t have any units in for review yet so I can’t answer your question as accurately as I would like, but as you might be able to see from the photos above, the bar adds around 2-3 cm onto the left hand side of the keyboard, and is around 1cm higher off the desk than the keyboard. When we get a unit in for review I’ll let you know more accurately, but I hope this is okay for now!
