Elgato To Offer Customers Money Back If England Wins World Cup

by Ben Harvell

We’ve checked, and it’s nowhere near April 1st. This crazy idea is for real!

Elgato_Football_Promo_Box_EN_lowresFor those of you interested in both football (that’s Soccer in the US) and technology you’ll likely have heard of The World Cup and the Elgato EyeTV digital TV tuner range for Mac.

How could these two be related? Well, for one thing you could watch the upcoming international tournament on your Mac with one of these excellent pieces of kit. You could also win the cost of your EyeTV back if your country wins the tournament!

We’ve checked, and it’s nowhere near April 1st. This crazy idea is for real!

From Elgato themselves, here’s the full deal:

If England wins, every customer who buys an EyeTV DTT Deluxe Football Edition before June 11, 2010 in England is eligible for a refund from Elgato – the equivalent of 89.95 EUR in pounds sterling.* EyeTV DTT Deluxe is the world’s smallest full-featured DVB-T (Freeview) TV tuner stick, perfect to watch, record, edit and enjoy football on a Mac or PC. An optional app is available to Mac users to stream live TV to an iPhone.
You heard right. If England wins, we’ll give your customers their money back. It’s one more great reason to support England’s team.
This promotion will run independantly in 8 European countries: England, Germany, France, Spain, Italy, Portugal, Denmark, and the Netherlands.

Given England’s less than glorious performances since 1966, it’s unlikely that Elgato will have to pay out, however with France, Italy and current European champions Spain in the mix it may be a little more expensive in other locations.
