garageband sheet music?

We've all got the iLife apps, why not talk about them?

garageband sheet music?

ok, so, i was going to buy a MIDI keyboard for imputing into Sibelius, as it takes too long to do it otherwise, but i was wondering, can you put garageband music into sheet music?
If Microsoft had an original thought the company would immediately implode in suprise.

you can view it as sheet music but I don't think you can print it. you have to be in one of the views, track editor which is the one with the scissors, from there below it on the bottom left is a notational view button. click that. Only works for midi files but you can find any midi file on the internet and import it and it will show you the notes to play to make the song. - quite fun if you can find your favourite songs in midi files.

Demonlawyer speaks the truth - unfortunately score printout is one of the more professional functions Apple have held back from GarageBand users in order to tempt them to buy Logic Express. There are workarounds, but they're all very clumsy & laborious, involving screenshots(!) or plug-ins that export MIDI data one track at a time to a proper notation program like Sibelius - which it appears you have already anyway! As your main motivation is to save time, these measures probably aren't worth your while. The only other alternative is to go down the Logic Express road, and that's quite a bit of mahoney...

My advice - stick to your original plan, but get a USB keyboard. Most controllers these days have USB as standard as well as MIDI ports anyway, but if you use USB you don't need a separate MIDI interface.

PS Just noticed your original post was way back in March, so this may be too late to be of interest to you Al, but hey, others might find it useful so I'll post it anyway!

Do you mean the music runs off the page in one long line when you view the score in Page View?

If so, this is a known bug.

Have you tried creating a new Instrument Set & Score Layout? Apparently that can sometimes help....

i know you can't print off A4 sheets. I asked during a genius session and thinking it would be cool if you could but probably a breach of some kind of copyright somewhere too as you can buy sheet music separately

Hello Guys,
I think Garage Band is the greatest thing to come from Apple.
In GarageBand, create your MP3 (Share, export song to disk).
Convert your MP3 to WAV (I used Adobe Soundbooth - simple open / save as).
I would like to transcribe music I make in Garage Band into sheet music.
hot new music releases
Is it possible to play an instrument in Garageband and it translate what I play into sheet music?
