Orange iPhone Data plan details

by Jimmy Hayes

Orange offer very decent data terms…

orange-logoAs the war on iPhone 4 pricing begins, one of the key variables in deciding who to go with, will be be data usage. We’ve already seen a backlash to O2 announcing a 500MB cap. Anyone going over that threshold will then be charge. Its interesting to note that Orange, who released their price plans earlier today (link), are offering an unlimited service. Ok, so in pretty much every case unlimited never means unlimited but Orange are far more liberal than many other companies. They have a 750MB fair usage policy and, even though they could, they don’t seem to be planning to charge users who go over the limit. Instead, they say they will monitor the situation and take steps against anyone who is seen to be abusing the position. We’ve copied the jargon from their T’s and C’s so you can see for yourself. This could edge it for a lot of people and we are certain that Orange is the current front runner.

Orange Terms and Conditions regarding data fair usage:

Mobile internet browsing is for use within the UK only. Any use outside the UK will be charged at the relevant international rates. Mobile Internet browsing does not include event charges such as for ringtones or games (transport costs for these events are included). Fair Usage policy of 750MB applies. Usage above this amount will constitute abuse and Orange may monitor usage, apply Network protection controls which may result in reduced speed of transmission and/or withdraw the Offer from your account if the fair usage policy is abused.

Fair Usage policy of 750MB applies. Usage above this amount will constitute abuse and Orange may come round to your house and make your life generally difficult in simple, annoying ways e.g. watering down your milk, removing the funnies from your newspaper, peeing on the toilet seat and not having the common decency to wipe it off, saying they don’t want any chips but then eating a large percentage from your plate.
