iPad Week – Tutorial: Change Wallpaper

The one thing that has always niggled us about the iPhone is that there isn’t really an opportunity to personalise the interface without jailbreaking it. The same is true of the iPad – with one little difference: Apple has given users the ability to change the background of the home screen as well as the lock screen. This may seem like a trivial addition to the software set, but for Apple it’s pretty big. Apple is a company that deals in absolutes and employs a closed system to prevent people making the environment look bad. So, we’re quite pleased that we get to add a little individuality to the home screen, and we were also pretty pleased when we discovered you can have two different images for lock screen and home screen. Making changes to the system is very simple and this is a perfect first venture into the Settings system of the iPad. It works in a very similar way to the iPhone, only you can see much more of the path that you take to make to a change in Settings. This makes the system clearer, more memorable and much easier to use. Proficiency at this simple task should give you the courage to explore the settings to get even more use from your iPad and make improvements to the way it works for you.
